This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to use specialised equipment in the provision of resuscitation and oxygen therapy in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

Target participants: This unit applies to persons/workers who may be required to use specialised equipment to provide resuscitation or oxygen therapy in a range of complex situations, including community and workplace settings. Persons seeking the annual re-qualification assessment as required for licensing/regulatory requirements to this competency obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.

The face to face training is 6.0 hours and covers both theory and practical aspects of providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.

Students are required to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the course commencement.

Duration: 6 hours face to face training.

Online learning required for participants who do not a current certificate.

Certificate recommended renewal period: 12 months

Prerequisites:

Participants must hold a current certification in HLTAID011 Provide first aid

Minimum age 14 years

Physical Requirements: In order to issue an accredited certificate, participants must perform 2 minutes of CPR on an adult manikin on the floor with no exemptions.

Statement of Attainment: On successful completion of the training program Students will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy.
