This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.   The unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Target participants: Workers who have not completed first aid training,  people who have not completed first aid training for some time or people seeking the tri-annual re-qualification assessment as required for licensing, set down by industry standards who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

The face to face training is 8.0 hours and covers both theory and practical aspects of Provide First Aid training if holding a current certificate.

Students are required to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the course commencement.

Duration: 8 hours face to face training

Online learning required for participants who do not hold a current certificate.

Certificate recommended renewal period : 3 years

Prerequisites: Minimum age 14 years

Physical Requirements: In order to issue an accredited certificate, participants must perform 2 minutes of CPR on an adult manikin on the floor with no exemptions.

Statement of Attainment: On successful completion of the training program Students will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, including HLTAID009 and HLTAID010. These units of competency are holistically incorporated into the learning for HLTAID011.
